Seungyeon Kim
Research Scientist
Seungyeon Kim is a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, working in Oriol Vinyals's organization. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on thinking and reasoning, with particular interests in the scalability of reinforcement learning, adaptive computation, persistent memory in LLMs, and model distillation. His recent work on Faster Cascades via Speculative Decoding received an Outstanding Paper Honorable Mention at ICLR 2025. Prior to Google DeepMind, he led the Scalable Intelligence Research team at Meta Superintelligence Labs, and before that, he was at DeepMind under Rob Fergus.
